BT Internet Services for Leased Line Customers

BT Leased Lines

As one of the leading names in business broadband (BT Infinity), business phones (BT mobile), and leased lines (BTNet), it’s not surprising that there are a large number of BT internet services for businesses to choose from today. However, the benefits of BT don’t end with the installation of your leased line. In fact, once you’re connected, there’s still plenty of ways that your internet service provider can help you to really get the most from your new service.

Here are just some of the BT services that can help you to make the most of your BT leased line:

● BT Cloud:

While BT Cloud doesn’t have quite the business following as Amazon Web Services (AWS), it does have its own benefits, and it’s a cloud computing option that’s well worth considering. Cloud computing is, of course, considered a ‘must have’ for modern businesses, especially as the concept of the 9-5 office is no longer a realistic working pattern. So why BT Cloud? Most notably because it facilitates the use of the BT Cloud Voice system; a traditionally-styled office handset that comes complete with cloud-inspired functionality.

● Managed Services:

As the widespread introduction of leased lines proves, business technology is becoming increasingly diverse and complex. While larger businesses often have the capacity, internal resources, and budget to handle the ever changing systems and services, smaller businesses are struggling to keep up, which could be stopping them taking new growth and development opportunities. Internet services providers like BT offer ‘managed services’, which helps to relieve the strain and ensures your connection is managed by the best in the business.

● Security Event Monitoring (SEM):

As a dedicated connection, leased lines are remarkably secure which can help to significantly reduce the risk of data breaches and hacking incidents. However, it doesn’t hurt to be vigilant, which is why BT offer a wide range of network security services, including SEM. SEM involves real time monitoring of your leased line and internal network, working to identify any weak spots, create effective and efficient solutions, and reduce incident response times to minimise the risk of disaster. It’s a great way to protect your network.

The down side of BT internet Services

BT leased lines are the most popular in the UK, partly down to coverage partly down to brand and re-sellers. The tech giant has the reenue to outmarket and outsell most other providers, but does this make them the best?

If you are considering a new leased line for your business its important to keep a balanced view of the negative side of BTnet Leased Lines that you won’t find on their website:

● BTnet Price :

The cost of buying a BTnet service direct is nearly always more than the market average. Its referred to as BT retail pricing and has the reputation of being the most expensive among all main ISP’s. BT wholesale pricing on the other hand tends to be priced very competitively, this means you could buy a BT Leased Line from a re-seller for a lower cost than buying from BT. You would be getting the same product just through a provider thats likely to offer a cheaper price and better customer service.

● Customer Service:

The two providers we hear the most complaints about are BT & Daisy Communications & by a significant amount more than other providers. The main issues we hear about are the support or difficulty in getting any when a problem occurs. A quick google search will confirm the kind 0f experiences customers often have with BT – trustpilot is an example where the business side of BT scores worse than BT consumer side, which is also notoriously poor.

Leased Lines in the UK are delivered by hundreds of different providers and all will use other providers infrastructure, including BT. This is great news for anyone who wants a BT line as it means you can look at the options of getting a BT circuit from a provider like Aspire or another re-seller who are known for their highly rated customer service.

BT business faults

BT is the biggest provider of leased lines Wi-Fi in the UK so it’s natural we would hear about their faults more than any other provider. However, as well as faults BT had been underpaying compensation to its business customers for almost 3 years & had to pay over £14million in compensation to business customers.

Faults can occur no matter who your provider is, so we would never recommend to base your decision solely on that factor. There’s more that you should consider when buying a leased line:

  1. Price – This is the biggest driver for most small businesses who need to keep costs low and performance high. The best way to get yourself the best leased line quotes is to compare the market and follow our 5 tips to get the best leased line costs.
  2. Customer Retention – A good way to gauge how effective a provider is would be to find out the average customer length – longer customers or a 97% retention means most who join are happy with the service. Use this in conjunction with reviews on review sites and blogs and you should get a decent understanding.
  3. Reliability – How often they get faults and how quickly they resolve is another good indication of how good a provider they are.

Getting the Most from your Internet Service Provider

Of course, BT are not the only internet service provider to offer such services. In fact, there are many good internet service providers in the UK who are all dedicated to helping you get the most from your connection. Virgin Media, Daisy, and Wavenet are all excellent choices, along with Aspire, Skye Cloud, Arrow, and more. Compare internet services providers here and see what they have to offer you.
