Serviced Offices Business Broadband Costs 2024

Serviced offices are becoming hugely popular with growing businesses as they allow companies to dive straight in without having to worry about things like utilities and facilities.

If you’re considering a serviced office, you’ll find that in terms of business broadband, there are two different types of serviced office: an office which includes a broadband connection in the cost, and an office that does not offer a connection.

So which is best? That’s a tricky question to answer, as both have their advantages and disadvantages:

Included Business Broadband

More and more serviced office providers are starting to understand that offering a ready-made business broadband connection is a massive plus for modern companies, so you’ll find that many of your options will have a connectivity option. The advantage of this is that there’s absolutely no need to wait around for a connection to be established; it’s already there, and you can make use of it as soon as you move in.

The potential downside of this, of course, is that your business may not have much input — if any — on the type of connection that’s available, or the speed. If there are other companies using the serviced office, it is likely that the bandwidth will be shared across the building, which could be an issue for some. Always ask if there is a minimum guaranteed upload and download speed before signing the contract.

It’s also a good idea to think about the future, too, and whether or not you expect your needs to change significantly before the end of your lease. Would it be possible to arrange for faster internet with the landlord if you were to outgrow the current connection? Would it be possible for you to arrange for your own connection? Some may have restrictions on this, as broadband facilities are considered revenue.

Non-Included Business Broadband

The obvious downside to having to provide your own internet connection is that it does mean a little more work for you, at a time when you’re likely to be very busy getting settled into your new premises. You may need to experience a short period without a connection while you get everything sorted, but the good news is that selecting an internet service provider is easy with Leased Line Comparison.

The big advantage of arranging your own broadband, on the other hand, is that you have the flexibility to select an internet service provider — and a service — that completely meets your needs. Whether you’re looking for fast download speeds, improved upload speeds, low latency, or greater reliability, you’re free to make your own arrangements to suit you, rather than simply settling for a service.

However, it is important to have a chat with the landlord to ensure that the terms of your lease allow for you to make any cabling changes that are necessary to provide this service. If you’re opting for a service which is provided over a phone line, such as fibre to the cabinet (FTTC), then there usually won’t be a problem. If you want something more involved, like a dedicated leased line, it’s always worth checking.

Reach Your Full Potential

There’s really no right or wrong answer when it comes to which type of serviced office is best. However, what we do know is that it’s important for businesses to be able to reach their full potential, and in some cases, this can mean working to ensure that their business broadband service is right for them, and is continuing to meet their needs. Broadband is essential for modern businesses, so don’t settle for less.
